Shikoku Elopement Weddings, Japan
The Japan Nobody
Shows You. Yet.
While the world photographs Kyoto's crowds, couples who choose Shikoku elopement weddings find something rarer — ancient temples with no tourists, coastlines that feel untouched, and a Japan that still moves slowly. This is where we are based. This is where we shoot.
Shikoku Elopement Photography
Where the Real Japan
Still Exists
本物の日本 — 四国エロープメント撮影
"Most couples search for Kyoto. The ones who find Shikoku never regret it."
Shikoku is Japan's fourth-largest island — and its best-kept secret for elopement weddings in Japan. No tour buses outside the shrines. No queues at the castle. Just ancient cedar forests, terraced rice paddies, vine bridges crossing emerald gorges, and an inland sea dotted with islands that look the same as they did a century ago.
We are based here in Kagawa Prefecture. We know every quiet path, every perfect light, every moment when the mist rolls in over the valley. Our Shikoku elopement packages include everything — photography, videography, kimono styling, hair & makeup, planning and legal marriage coordination. This is not a location we visit — it is where we live.

Shikoku Elopement Questions
Shikoku Elopement FAQ
よくあるご質問 — 四国エロープメント
Shikoku is Japan's fourth-largest island, located in the west of Japan between Osaka and Kyushu. The main gateway is Takamatsu Airport (Kagawa Prefecture), which receives direct flights from Seoul, Taipei and Hong Kong. From Tokyo, it's a 90-minute flight. From Kyoto or Osaka, it's just 2–2.5 hours by shinkansen and express train — making it the perfect addition to a Japan trip that includes both Kyoto and Shikoku.
Our three most popular Shikoku elopement locations are Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu (one of Japan's finest stroll gardens, remarkably uncrowded), the Iya Valley in Tokushima (ancient vine bridges and mountain mist), and the Setouchi Islands (golden coastal light and fishing villages). We also shoot at Kotohiragu Shrine, Marugame Castle, and various private gardens and countryside locations across Kagawa and Tokushima.
Shikoku is beautiful in every season. Spring (late March–April) brings cherry blossoms to Ritsurin Garden and the castle grounds — book 6–12 months ahead for these dates. Autumn (November–December) turns Shikoku's forests and temple gardens into vivid gold and red. Summer (June–August) brings lush green mountains and dramatic skies across the Iya Valley. Winter (December–February) offers intimacy and privacy at near-empty locations with beautiful cool light. Unlike Kyoto, Shikoku's locations rarely feel crowded even at peak times.
Our full-service Shikoku elopement packages include: dedicated local planner and coordinator, wedding photography, videography, ceremony officiant, hair and makeup, kimono or western dress styling, venue sourcing across Kagawa and Tokushima, travel costs within the shooting area, and legal marriage coordination. We also offer photography-only and kimono pre-wedding shoot packages. Contact us for a personalised quote — packages start from JPY 450,000 (approx. USD $2,820 ※ as of April 2026).
Kyoto is beautiful — but overwhelmingly crowded. Shikoku elopement weddings offer the authentic Japan experience that Kyoto once promised: ancient temples with no tourists, private gardens, real spiritual atmosphere, and locations that are entirely yours during the shoot. Our team is locally based, so we know every hidden corner and the exact times when each location is at its most beautiful. If you are specifically set on a Kyoto elopement, I also work as a member of the Nomad Weddings team — one of Japan's most trusted elopement companies. I handle Kyoto arrangements personally, so you are in the same hands wherever in Japan you choose to elope.
Absolutely — this is one of our most popular itineraries. Kyoto and Takamatsu are just 2.5 hours apart by train, making it easy to combine a few days in Kyoto with your Shikoku elopement wedding. Many couples shoot their kimono pre-wedding photos in Shikoku and celebrate their ceremony in Kyoto, or vice versa. We can help plan your full Japan itinerary around your elopement dates.
Yes. Kimono photography at Ritsurin Garden and other Shikoku locations is one of our signature services. Our Japanese team provides authentic kimono and yukata styling, dressing and on-site coordination. We work with experienced kimono dressers in Takamatsu and Tokushima, and our knowledge of each garden and temple's lighting means every kimono portrait is genuinely stunning. See examples in our Shikoku wedding portfolio.
We recommend booking at least 3–6 months in advance for most dates. For cherry blossom season (late March–April) and autumn foliage (November–December), book 6–12 months ahead as these are our most requested periods. Because we are locally based, we can often accommodate shorter lead times for non-peak dates. Send us a message with your preferred dates and we will confirm availability within 2–3 business days.
